The Art of Light Shaping by Jen Siow

A one day intensive workshop for intermediate to advance photographers who want to improve their technical skills and be inspired to bring their photography to the next level.

About The Course

The art of photography is the fusion of the your vision with the emotional content. The craft of photography is your camera, lighting and post-production skills. Light is the essence in which you ‘paint’ your image. Without light there is no image. Poor lighting skills can stand in the way of achieving your desired image. If you aspire to climb up to the next level, join me and I will demystify the secrets behind my successful lighting that I have used in my 30 years as one of the top beauty and fashion photographer in the country.

What you will learn

  1. The fundamentals starting with your camera, lens and sensor, in getting consistent perfect exposure.
  2. A complete understanding of the lighting tools from light sources to light shaping tools.
  3. Lighting setups from single lighting to multiple lights that makes your images magical.
  4. Understanding light as an emotion.
  5. Be a master of light - control light and not let the light control you!

Why You Should Attend

You are here to tap my 30 years of experience. As such, you should expect to:

  1. Be ready to receive and learn a lot of knowledge all day long! I will talk, demonstrate and explain non-stop to distill my 30 years of knowledge in the one day session.
  2. Be here to learn, absorb, be astounded, surprised, be motivated and inspired to produce your own magic when you leave my class. Photographers are visual people so the best way to learn is to see, observe, listen and understand the fundamentals.

What To Expect

  1. This is not a class in basic lighting, it is a class on mastering lighting and light shaping. However, all photographers are welcome to attend.
  2. There will be opportunities to shoot as I teach; however there will not be a one-on-one individual or group model shoot sessions. As this is a learning class, this session is also not a class for those seeking only to shoot beautiful models for their own folio. You are here to learn!
